What you always wanted to know about Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) but were afraid to ask

Thad Anderson, Vice President, Marketing
System Solutions Incorporated

Much has been made lately of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), and with good reason. According to Microsoft, Gartner Group and International Data Corp., the cost of acquiring and supporting each Windows-based computer can run into five figures annually. What's more surprising, hardware and software capital expenses account for only a small portion of that cost. The remainder is taken up by management and support costs. As the annual cost of PC ownership spirals even as the cost of PC hardware plummets, IT managers are feeling the pain. Only by understanding the factors that contribute to the cost of those PCs can you begin to take some real steps toward controlling costs. This session will endeavor to answer the questions above with a high-level overview of TCO, a discussion of various TCO models and some steps you can take to reduce your Total Cost of Ownership.

What does the Compaq acquisition of Digital mean to me?
It's "the largest acquisition in the history of the computer industry." What are Compaq's plans? What will change? What will stay the same? This meeting will be one of the first public discussions of the new structure. A speaker from Compaq senior management will address the questions of both Federal and non-Federal customers.

Presentations are available:

Further information on the merger is available:
